The institution was established in 1994 with the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 67, which focused on the creation of regional universities as part of the higher education revolution policy. This policy aimed to provide university study opportunities to as many Sudanese citizens as possible, from various groups and age ranges, after university admissions were previously limited and centralized in universities in Khartoum.

Approval of the Health Plan in North Kordofan for the Postponed Secondary School Certificate Exams

A joint meeting was held today between the Ministries of Education and Health in North Kordofan at the office of the Acting Minister of Education. The meeting discussed the health plan prepared by the Ministry of Health for the postponed 2023 Secondary School Certificate Exam, scheduled for December 28, 2024. The plan aims to ensure the safety and health of students sitting for the exam across the state.
Mr. Waleed Mohamed Hassan, the Acting Minister of Education and Director-General of the Ministry, emphasized that the Ministry of Health is a key partner in ensuring the success of the Secondary School Certificate Exam. He highlighted the strong collaboration between the two ministries in implementing the outlined plans for secondary, intermediate, and primary exams.
He added that the health plan instills confidence in the ministry as they prepare for the exams, focusing on the health of students, exam centers, and accommodations. He expressed hope that other institutions, organizations, and community initiatives would follow the Ministry of Health's lead in supporting the postponed exams.
Mr. Waleed commended the efforts of the Ministry of Health in supporting education over the past years.
Dr. Iman Malik Abdulrahman, the Acting Minister and Director-General of the Ministry of Health and Social Development, presented the key aspects of the health plan for the Secondary School Certificate Exam. She outlined the ministry's interventions, which include both preventive and treatment measures.
Dr. Iman explained that the preventive measures are divided into three phases: before, during, and after the exams, aimed at raising awareness among students and teachers. She noted that first aid kits would be provided at exam centers in coordination with local health organizations, the Medical Supplies Fund, and Sheikan Locality.
She also detailed the treatment measures, which involve setting up clinics at student accommodation sites to monitor and address urgent health issues. These clinics will provide a range of health services under the full supervision of the Ministry of Health.
Specialized departments within the Ministry of Health elaborated on the detailed plan, stating that the primary goal is to provide health services to students at accommodation sites and exam centers in El Obeid by enhancing the school environment. The plan focuses on supervising the quality of water and nutrition, controlling disease vectors, and disinfecting toilets and classrooms. It also emphasizes the chlorination of water at student accommodations and exam centers.
Officials from the Ministry of Education praised the health plan for meeting the ministry's expectations regarding the health aspects of the exams. They pledged full cooperation to implement the plan and announced the provision of all necessary resources for its successful execution.
